1.4418 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel grade which usually are preheat threated. This grade is written as 1.4418 or X4CrNiMo16-5-1 according to EN norm. 1.4418 grade material has a good corrosion resistance and many people can compare this grade with 630 (1.4542) grade stainless steel. 1.4418 stainless steel usually heat threated in two different heat threatment conditions after production. These heat threatment conditions are QT780 and QT900. All 1.4418 material comes to Bircelik as ,n QT900 (Quenched and Tempered 900) heat threatment condition. So the minimum tensile strenght of the materials at Bircelik warehouse are minimum 900 MPA. Because of preheat threatment, the mechanical properties of this material is very good and also surface hardness is about 30 HRC. So in many applications, no extra heat threatment is necessary. But if necessary, a second heat threatment can be applied to the 1.4418 material and after another heat threatment, the mechanical values can be better. 1.4418 stainless steel equivalent is asked to much to our company but not all the stainless steel grade has an equivalent in AISI norm. So 1.4418 grade do not have any stainless steel grade name like 304 grade or 316 grade. 1.4418 or X4CrNiMo16-5-1 are this grades only names according to EN norm.
