431 (1.4057) Stainless Steel

431 stainless steel, or 4057 or 1.4057 is a very common used martensitic stainless steel grade. This grade is similar to 420 grade in some properties. Both of the materials can be heat threated but the main advantage of 431 is its heat threated condition. All 431 (1.4057) grade materials at Bircelik stocks are coming from the factory a heat threated (Quenched and tempered 800). For this reason, most of our customers do not need to make a second heat threatment, because the material is heat threated QT800 and because of that the mechanical properties and surface hardness is very good. Compering with 420, 431 is also more corrosion resistance because of its element content.
