303 stainless steel is one of the most widely used stainless steel grade. This grade is written as 1.4305 or X8CrNiS18-9 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S30300 according to UNS norm. 1.4305 stainless steel has one of the best machinability in austenitic stainless steel grades. 1.4305 material is really close to 304 grade stainless steel and the main differences is the sulfur content of 303. Sulfur increases the machinability and 303 is one of the easiest grade to machine. But on the other hand, sulfur decreases the corrosion resistance a lot. The price of 303 grade is generally a bit higher than 304 grade stainless steel.
The 303 stainless steel grade has a really good machinability and the Ugitech products which are sold from Birçelik warehouse has even a much better machinability then most of the other producers. Ugitech's UGI303 grades are well known around the world because of their excellent machinability.
303 grade stainless steel is not a very easy stainless steel grade to produce because of its sulfur and carbon content. These both elements cause easy crack formation and good quality of product is necessary to prevent cracks.
