440B stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel grade which can be heat threated up to 57 - 60 HRC. This grade is written as 1.4112 or X90CrMoV18 according to EN norm and UNS S44003 according to UNS norm.
1.4112 material has a good capability of getting hardness. It containes ~%0.90 carbon element and because of high carbon, this grade is really good grade for high hardness. But since it contains ~%0.90 carbon, its corrosion resistance is not soo good. This grade can be used for surgical equipments, drills which require corrosion resistance, valves. 1.4112 is also used to make knives and this stainless steel grade is a good grade for high hardness knifes. In Bircelik warehouse, you can find alternative grade which is 440M (UGI4116N) and here are some other informations about 440B (1.4112) materials.
